Rhinoplasty (nose surgery)

Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery) Abroad

Procedure: Reshaping of the nose by reducing or increasing its size, removing any ‘hump’, reforming the bridge or tip, narrowing the nostrils’ span, or altering the angle between the nose and upper lip. The procedure is also done to relieve certain breathing problems.
Duration of Procedure: 1 – 2 hours or longer.
Anaesthetic: General anaesthetic. (Local Anaesthesia for smaller tip refinement surgery)
In/Out Patient: Usually an outpatient procedure after which one returns home or overnight stay in Dr. Jedeikin’s Recovery Retreat.
Postoperative: There will be temporary swelling and bruising around the eyes and nose; headaches, and slight bleeding and stuffiness.
Recovery: : One can return to work after 1 – 2 weeks and more demanding activities after 2 – 3 weeks. It’s important to avoid direct sunlight and any impact to the nose for 8 weeks. The final appearance only resolves after 8 – 12 months. Understanding this, you will be completely presentable after two weeks.
Results: An aesthetically pleasing and well-proportioned nose.

The Aesthetics of Rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty is commonly requested by patients abroad as it is a specialist surgery.

Dr. Jedeikin attends conferences abroad and has been taught by the world’s best in the USA. Rhinoplasty is his super specialty resulting in him being one of the top rhinoplasty patients in South Africa.

Rhinoplasty , is a balancing act. The nose being the central feature of one’s face needs to be well proportioned within itself as well as with the face. Dr Jedeikin will explain the important aesthetics of the face and nose as well as the vitally important proportion of the nose with the chin. The nose is made up of three parts. The upper bony pyramid, the mid vault (cartilage) and the lower tip structure which meets with the upper lip. These three sections need to be well balanced .Once this is done , the final result will be a finely tuned , balanced and well proportioned appearance. The patients face will not be changed and the alteration in the nose will be subtle and satisfying. Dr Jedeikin spends a long time consulting with Rhinoplasty patients determining their needs and together with his accurate judgement, he then decides on an operative plan.
